Los Angeles CA, April 30, 2006 Mary Carey, former Gubernatorial candidate and pornstar celeb, Diane Duke, Executive Director of the Free Speech Coalition, and Jeffery Douglas, prominent First Amendment attorney are in studio live tonight on Breaking The Law 9-11 pm PST to discuss the demise of the controversial . XXX proposal as well as the FSC’s Lobbying Day in Sacramento last Monday.

Mary Carey, pornstar and politico, joins Michael and Veronica Rayne on the couch to discuss her take on the current state of the adult industry. As well as how her lobbying efforts in Sacramento may have helped to derail AB 1551, a new porn tax introduced by Assemblyman Calderon, D-Whittier.

Calderon’s bill taxes venues that sell adult material, not the material itself. According to Eugene Volokh of the UCLA School of Law, “this is a tax on adult businesses, not materials and that is an important distinction,” as to whether this tax might be considered constitutional.

Diane Duke, FSC’s new Executive Director will also discuss her and Jeffrey Douglas’s recent trip to Portugal for ICANN’s hearing on whether . XXX would be adopted. Through Diane and Jeffrey’s efforts, as well as many others in the adult entertainment community, . XXX was defeated by a sounding 9-5 vote, perhaps finally for the last time.
